Fuji has announced a new compact camera to sit in the X range of premium design and quality cameras.
The Fuji X-F1 features the same 2/3-inch EXR-CMOS sensor as the Fuji FinePix X10, which was announced in December 2011.
A newly developed f/1.8 4x optical zoom Fujinon lens is included, which retracts into the body to give a super-sleek external appearance.
Sensor: 12 million pixel 2/3-inch EXR-CMOS sensor
Lens: Manual 4x Fujinon optical zoom lens (25-100mm equivalent) f/1.8 - f/4.9
Screen: 3 inch, 460k dot LCD screen
Video: Full HD video
High-end design has been used for the Fuji X-F1. An aluminium body, which is both light and durable, is covered with a synthetic leather that reproduces the feel of genuine leather while also helping with grip.
Rather than zooming via a switch or button, as on most compact cameras, the Fuji X-F1 can zoom in using the lens itself.
The lens features seven elements in six groups (four aspherical and three extra low dispersion). All elements have been coated with Fujinon Wide-band High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating to help reduce ghosting and flare.
Optical Image Stabilisation is also included, along with macro photography capability from as close as 3cm.
The Fuji X-F1 is equipped with an EXR image processor that promises fast autofocus, even in darker conditions. Furthermore, start-up is less than one second, focus acquisition can be achieved in as little as 0.16 seconds and minimum shot-to-shot time of just 0.8 seconds is expected. The processor also facilitates Full HD video recording and a high burst mode for stills.
On the back of a camera is a 3-inch, 460k dot LCD monitor made by tempered glass.
Full manual control is available on the Fuji X-F1, along with the ability to shoot in raw format.
A new advanced filter option is included, which enables you to use creative digital effects such as Pop Colour, toy camera, miniature and dynamic tone while shooting.
